George,

This morning I went to put a Captan paste on my pumpkin stems. It looks
pretty bad. Fruit flys were working on the stem. I guess its just a matter
of time. Another pumpkin has the same problem and I moved the stem a little
to see if there was anything left holding on. It was just about severed
from the pumpkin. Do you have any ideas on how to prevent this next year?
I've been pretty faithfull with Manzate 200 and Bravo fungicides this year,
alternating between the two. I've got two 500 lb.+ pumpkins I'm afraid
won't make it to weighoff, but it has still been the best year of growing
big pumpkins for me ever. My biggest until this year was only 271 lbs., so
I've made real progress this year.
