Hello all-
I have one plant (it's a Bobier 796) with a single pumpkin on it, I'm stuck
at around 40lbs (yes that's 40 not 400 - which is in my range considering my
best the last 5 years or so has been 58lbs). Anyway weather is great (75-80
degrees here in Orange County CA) but pumpkin growth, such as it is, has
stalled in the last couple of weeks. The fruit is starting to take on a
depressingly orangish color. I have it under a couple layers of 60% shade
cloth.
My question(s): Is it possible growth will resume on its own? Does the
orange color signal end of growth? If not, is there anything I can do coax a
few more lb's out? Fertilize copiously? Sing it a song?
I'm not a rookie but am definitely in the minor leagues ... still living for
the day a 100lb'er grows in my back yard,
...Paul
