Hey there growers,
Our first attempt at growing pumpkins failed miserably. And, I was just
wondering...
Am I just lame, or is this a lot more difficult than throwing a few
seeds in the ground? How bout humoring me with some "FIRST TIME"
stories :) It sure would help my ego to know I wasn't the only newbie
out there to fail this year :)
Thank folks!
Trish
............
My first year, I just planted them in poor native soil and let the
pumpkins grow downhill. I had several in the 40 pound ranges. I did
nothing but place chicken manuer next to the main root.
The next year I was still not educated and I let a puddle of water keep
the ground moist under the pumpkin.
Last year, I did ok...nothing to brag about, but had the knowledge.
This year, my pumpkin exploded and I have one wedged in between a rock
garden and the raised vegetable bed. May be I will get the Ugliest
pumpkin two years in a row. If I don't beat my last years record, I
won't bring my pumpkin to the weigh off.
NEW NEWS
A DEAL WITH THE WIFE!!!!!!
If I make a play house for my daughter, I can have 2/3 of the lawn. I
should be able to get two pumpkins in this area. THis is at least four
times larger than my current growing area. Someone give me land! I have
the knowledge.....I need LAND!...and a little water and luck.
