George Brooks
N. Tewksbury, MA about 25 miles Northwest of Boston in the Merrimack River
Valley.
Planted 4/13/98 in prepared mounds, method used is the Direct Start Method
combined with the Compost Feeding Method listed on Dan’s Page with pictures.

Being August first I like to keep the status of the Pumpkins , at least the
exact size, confidential after this update. I like to keep the weigh off a
surprise rather than everyone trying to predict the top 20 ahead of time.
(Hopefully I can keep them going to be in there).
AG-480-97-GB a AG-553-92-GB child crossed with AG-717-91-MM, (Mike
MacDonald) and AG-798-95-PNZ, (Zehr).
Set 6/23 @12' 4" 125 c OTT 267 gaining an average of 13.5 pounds a day over
the last 5 days. Growing at 1.25 - 2.25" per day over the last 3 days, skin
has darkened slightly in the last week. Growing Blossom End Up, Cartwheel
Shape.
Greer 1006
Set 6/24 @16' 6" By far the most promising, 126 c OTT 270 gaining an average
of 15 pounds per day over the last 5 days. Growing at 1.75 - 2.5" per day
over the last 3 days, skin has darkened slightly in the last week. Looks like
it’s mother. Slight indentation on top right, just like it’s parent. Looks
look like a genetic photo match to it’s parent, hope the size is too.
Cool nights (51) have slowed growth off and on but as the temperature gets
above 60 for a low at night they recover. Going to try putting a blanket over
the fruit on cold nights.
