I have 6 AG pumpkin plants remaining in my Florida garden that were
germinated
3/4 and set out 3/1
The stumps look looks like fat, twisted, gnarly grape
canes. I think that my vines would probably continue to grow until killed by
outside
influences, such as frost, vermin, bacteria or fungus. Should leave one in
just to see. The plants are growing and blooming like Jack's proverbial
beanstalk. I

What I wonder is what if we ran an AG on 24 hrs of light and
24 hours of dark, would it extend the growing time and size?

A pumpkin will not grow forever but will mature and stop growing at some

most of the growth occurs in 60 days, I think all of the growth occurs
in 90 days.
I don't know if the plant would keep growing and growing in a controled
environment? on every AG that i have grown the first true leaves seem
to "get old" and die. would this happen to all the leaves eventually ?
if the plant would continue growing then could you plant really early (
inside your giant green house) and not pollenate a female till the plant
was, say, 4-6 months old with hundreds of leaves ? or does a big
pumpkin have to be grown fairly close to the stump to get the growth
from the main root system?

Good point about ,is it the age of the plant ,or the age of the pumpkin
it self. Jaussi also has a good point about the light factor. As the
pumpkins are known to grow the most at night ,if we could elongate the dark
hours would it grow even bigger ,faster.

Such interesting feed back , we really need more info on the age in days of
the larger pumpkins .
Any heavy hitters want to contribute there info ??
Barbs got the plants of age . one part of the question solved.
