Transplanting

Hello again everyone! My container pumpkins (Early Sugar Sweet) are doing
fantastic so far. Much better than I though they would in containers instead
of the ground. The better news is that my husband and I got the house we
wanted and will be moving from our apt. to the new house August 29th. I'm
very excited, as next growing season I'll be able to really do some pumpkin
growing. My question is this: I planted my pumpkin seeds in the containers on
July 4th. Right now, the biggest plant is about 4 ft long and vining well,
with secondary vines started also. It has a lot of flowers which I am
assuming are male, but haven't opened up yet. Would it be too much for the
pumpkin plant to be transplanted in the ground at the end of August? I had
planned on amending the soil at the new house, as it is a claylike composition
and really needs some amending. I'm worried about transplant shock with the
size that it is and all. I've been fertilizing regularly, and side dressing
the container it's in with compost regularly also. Leaves are a healthy green
and the stem is fully intact with no splits as of today. I'm happy with the
growth, but I know it will do much better in the ground, but not sure if I
should take special measures in transplanting a pumpkin plant that size. Any
suggestions are welcome. Thanks!
