The pumpkin measured in at 127 inches circumference today, but I've
found a crack developing in a deep spot between ribs. I have seen a
paste of Captan suggested as a poultice for cracks but Captan is not
available here. I have dusted the area lightly with another fungicide
(powdered sulphur) . Any other suggestions? Comments? Advice? I sure
hope this isn't the start of a major split.

Bill, I am a totall novice so don't take me too seriously. I have
heard that vine and stem cracks can be the result of over watering
and overfertilizing during particularly hot periods. Anybody else
think that might be a factor?
