Hi Steve,
I don't know about vine training, we just let them do their thing(earlier in
the season, we had a vertical vine-it's true) but when you said about the
guy with the lights, it reminded me of us last year. One week before weigh
off we developed a stem crack, and in the intrest of saving the fruit , we
put a fan on it in an attempt to dry it out. We ran the fan day and night
and kept the area well tented. The result, the crack dried and the pumpkin
made it to weigh-off just fine.
