   I'm back from vacation. This is E-mail #284............! I was probably
referring to the benefits of Calcium nitrate. Elevating low calcium levels in
a fruit has been reported to strengthen cell walls. If adequate calcium levels
are already there, it probably will do nothing. The problem is that calcium
has trouble traveling in a large expanding fruit. Blossom end rot may be due
to low calcium levels at the opposite end of the fruit.
