Mike,

Nathan Buntrock once explained it to me this way so I'll pass it along.

The pumpkin seed which you have is usually defined as your own, with the weight
in front of your name and the year behind your name.

The ?????? x ???????? Is the mother and father of the seed.

So, your seed would look like this: ??? Stephenson 98 = 815 Anderson X 815
Anderson

??? would be the weight

This is assuming that you hand pollinated it and took precautions not to allow
pollen from any other plant to cross.

If you allowed it to " Open Pollinate " it would look like this:

??? Stephenson 98 = 815 Anderson X Open

See page 50 and 51 of " Pumpkins II " On page 51 shows Chris Anderson's 977
came from the 1006 Greer 96 so it shows the Male and Female parents as the Greer
1006. If it was open pollinated, it would show the Male as " Open "
Anybody out their correct me if im wrong.

I have an 815 growing this year and it is doing real well. The vine is giant,
good color, large healthy leaves and the stem on the pumpkins are nice and
long. Should be a good seed to cross with down the line.
