The equation in Langavins book should be 0.0000795 times (OTT to the power of 2.76) and that is what should be used. That is what the Table is based on and was within 0.26% (ie. about one quarter of a percent) of the largest Pumpkin ever grown (1063#). Note this prediction was made before Three world's weighoffs when the previous largest grown was just under 900 lbs.
In Summary no equation is any more accurate than the Scales at Weighoff Time.
