My plant got pummeled by hail on the weekend - it's a mess. The leaves
haven't wilted and it continues to grow. Does anyone have any
experience/advice with/for hail damaged pumpkins?
Thanks,
Kevin
Unfortunately I have had 4 or 5 Hail storms in the 20 years I’ve been growing
these.
** Spray a fungicide to aide in healing.
** Spray a foliar Spray to help the plant through the stress.
** Remarkably the AG doesn’t need anywhere near the number of leaves that we
thought it did quite a few years back. (I think I was the last to believe
that) So if you have quite a few leaves still upright you should be ok. In
severe cases the vine can explode when hit by a large hail stone. Also it can
bring on early maturity if the plant is stressed too much. If it is the
Pumpkin will stop growing within two weeks.
