Re: Females keep aborting before the flowers open.

whats the temp. where you are? that will happen if its really hot. you can
try "icing down" the females. (check the archives for ideas) also, try
discontinuing the fert. till you have one on the hook.

good luck

I am a first time grower. I have two great healthy plants with many vines
on
each. Each plant has many male flowers and has HAD many females. The
problem
is that although the females look great when they first come out, just
before
the flowers are ready to open the large-marbled sized pumpkins shrivel up
an
die. I started the plants inside and have had about 30 pumpkins die by
August
first. I started with 15-30-15 fertilizer and changed to 18-18-21,
because it wasthe closest I could find to 20-20-20. I water enough, but I
do
not over water. I currently have about 8 females growing. Please somebody
help me. I want at least one pumpkin my first year.
