I believe that genetics and the care a grower gives are the most important
factors but imagine a pumpkin growing on two plants or two genetically
superior pumpkins growing on three plants. and imagine if your plant is
growing to fast sever the grafts and burying them to slow down growth . or
when the pumpkin stops or slows down growth imagine grafting on to a close
by plant with no pumpkin of its own. or grafting on to a superior damaged
plant to help a good pumpkin grow or as Steve said graft the end of the
main onto a secondary and feed the pumpkin from both sides but we may
pollinate earlier and by grafting on the other plants have the
infrastructure no leaves early to put on good growth. buy grafting on other
plants. people who graft may have a planting plan that looks like a book
of football plays by the end of the year or may be a wiring diagram.
