re: Are we on track to hit 860 pounds? 1010?

As I've read over the past week or two of the amazing progress some of
you are making, I realized pretty quickly that a number of people are
ahead of Al Eaton's 10 year averages, and I got to wondering just how
fast these pumpkins are growing and what weights they will attain if
they keep up at this rate. I turned to Bob Marcellus's awesome figures
concerning 860 and 1010# growth rates, and came up with these numbers.
The column "DAY" refers to days since pollination, and the column
"WEIGHT" refers to the total weight of the pumpkin on that day (which
can obviously be figured from OTT or circumference measurements).

Here's the breakdown:
According to Bob,
TO GROW 860# TO GROW 1010#
DAY WEIGHT DAY WEIGHT
10 10# 10 10 pounds
15 20 15 20
20 70 20 70
25 180 25 190
30 300 30 325
35 415 35 460
40 520 40 585
45 605 45 686
50 670 50 765
55 715 55 830
60 755 60 880
65 790 65 920
70 815 70 955
75 835 75 980
80 850 80 995
85 860 85 1010 humongous pounds!!!!

I had to do a little bit of guessing to get 10 pounds on the 10th day
and I imagine that the scale actually strethches out a bit at the end,
so that the 860 or 1010 number isn't really reached until the 90th day
or so (most monsters are pollinated around July 4 and are cut around
October 1).

It's interesting for me to note that those growers fortunate enough to
be over 100" in circumference at the 30th day are growing about 40%
faster than Al Eaton's 10 year average charts. His charts put one at
100" on the 36th day, as far as I can figure. I gather from Bob
Marcellus's charts that a 1010 pound pumpkin hits 100" on about the 27th
day and an 860# reaches it on the 29th day. Sorry to say, I'm not even
close to that.
Do these numbers look about right?
