since we're talking about svb's and i see you mentioned something about
pheremone traps, i'll pass on some info. Early this year before the season
started, ray watterman made a post about some professor at some college who
was working on a better trap for svb's. I sent this guy an email, and
basically it would cost $65 for the trap, and this guy would supply me with
the pheremone. Then we got to talking, and i asked him if that would
actually attract more svb's than i normally would have if i didn't use the
pheremone. Ya know what? he never responded. I wrote to ray, and he
never responded. So i'm not sure this is such a good idea. In Don
Langevins books, he mentions that the female emerges in the spring, and
immediatly begins laying eggs, and we all know what comes next, except for
you western growers anyway! But if that's true, and there's no male svb
involved in the equation, i would be hesitant to attract more svb's than i
normally would in the first place. Did they work well for you?

I picked up SVB pheramone traps at my local Integrated Pest Management
extension office and ordered nematodes last year through
www.gardens-alive.com. I found eight at a garden center in St. Joseph, MO.
they have a toll-free number 1-800-831-4193. I hope that helps.
