Fertilizer - HOW MUCH?

O.K., now Marty Max says he uses 2 GALLONS of water soluable fertilizer per
hill every DAY?! The package instructions say to apply a gallon per hill
(plant) every WEEK, at most.
At a DAILY rate of 2 TB per hill, wouldn't this be WAY too much? I would
think thie would result in a high salt buildup in the soil and really mess
things up.
I use a good amount of balanced organic slow release fertilizer in the soil
before I start (8-8-8), and add a couple inches of composted manure and other
compost. Then a gallon of Miracle Grow per hill per week (actually 2 gallons
at half concentration (half TB per gallon), spread out over a week, so 1 TB
per week), and a gallon per 10 square feet of area that the vines are rooting
in.
Is this not enough?! 2 gallons per hill a DAY sounds disasterous! Can someone
let me know what the current recommendation is for water soluable fertilizer
for AG's?
