I'm tentatively planning on putting my AG in a different
spot next year, that I'll start preping soon. This is my
first year AG growing, I had no disease or insect problems.
The current patch would grow tomatos or such, I'd spread
the mound out to distribute the compost, the new spot is
currently fallow. How many of you use crop rotation with
AGs?
I'll start manuring the new site, and probably grow
annual rye and "little marvel" peas (my wife has an
internet seed business, so I just rob from Her supply, here
comes a shameless plug for her business...
www.virtualseeds.com is the address) to fix nitrogen and
provide more humus when tilled under. I'm interested in
suggestions on bed prep as well. Next year's site has a big
hole that my stepson dug for a pond, I may use this hole to
start a hotbed using green horse manure(May can be rather
cool, depending on the year), I've not done a hotbed
before, so can anyone offer advice.
I got a late start this year, on previously unprepared
land, with generic seeds. I'd like to do better next year,
I'm hooked on AGs, I've never seen a plant grow so big so
fast! Rock informed me that lots of seeds are available
after weigh-in, We have warm, very dry summers here, so I
hope to find seed from growers with similar climates. I
live in southwest Oregon.
Thankyou in advance for advice.
