> Some very good growers have come and gone from participating. The major
reason is in my opinion the "chit chat" and the repetition of the
questions." The volume of mail is overwhelming. Different people have
different expectations regarding what should be posted. Should we be
entering personal stuff? Many say yes???
Should this be strictly about the technical aspects of growing big pumpkins?
Many would say yes??? It is a problem when the same questions come up over
and over again. We will see that question again. So where have the
experienced growers gone?>

I hate to see a message with a meaningful title and a subsequent short msg
like "great" or "see you on the 17th", or "keep up the good work"
....I do not think the list should be used for person-to-person chit chat
unless it is of general interest. I do not doubt that some use the list
instead of e-mail. It is easier to hit `reply'. Often, I do not now who is
talking to whom. Apparently, a number on the list know each other well and
use the list instead of e-mail for personal comments.
Since I am on several lists, each morning I am faced with well over 100 msgs..
I have learned a lot from the this list and hope to continue. I have
Langevins 2d book as my bible, but it is still great to compare varying
methods and ideas.
As a beginner, I cannot contribute much to pumpkin growing. I appreciate
those who can and do with their msgs.
The problem of extraneous msgs is found in every List and newsgroup. Only a
few of those that are closely moderated are any better.
LUBADUBs thoughts should make us all consider how we use this list.
With good intentions, thanks,
