Hi group,
The topic seems to have been near beaten to death and this may sound trite,
but have we forgotten that we choose to be on this list? We had to make a
conscious effort to subscribe. I have been mighty close to winging some hum
dinger responses to posts that I disagreed with but didn't because the
whole list would have been involved. (Those replies wound up in the
Recycle bin.) Someone somewhere taught that this was called respect. In the
past people have sent wonderful, insightful personal replies...people have
also sent hurtful malicious replies to me. Doubtful I can agree with
everyone, nor expect everyone to agree with me. The list will not make us
perfect or god. We remain inperfectly, perfect people.
The forum is different. We cannot see each other, we cannot hear our
inflections or watch our facial nuances make communication come alive. What
may be intended as a tongue in cheek post if delivered in person becomes
rude when only printed.
In short I've learned a lot from people on the list...not just thigs about
pumpkins....and hope that perhaps by being here, have contributed. Time
allowing, every post gets read. Other days, only a particular post or line
of posts will catch my eye.
Ho hum, I hope John Lennon's statement applied to growing helps. "All we
are saying...is give P's a chance."

Is there a grower on the list from Dracut, MA.? I see a wonderful giant
everyday on my commute trhough Dracut.
My Failor 550 has begun to gain good color, but the growth is slow. It is
also losing what seems to be too many leaves. The rest in the same patch
are fine and there are four more pumpkins (though none as good as last
year's at this time). Do leaves on the vine after the pumkin contribute at
all to the growth?
As always,
Regards,
Kristina
