RE: :Repellant plants


Sorry, but they do repel them.  Cucumber beetles along with squash bugs are 
drawn to the bitter odor of plants of the cucurbita, like cucumbers and 
squash which give off the most bitter odor. Mustard greens make a very good 
trap crop for squash bugs and cucumber bugs, I plant them in a smaller 
garden beside my pumpkin patch for just that reason.  It works very well. 
 Their is a book that is very very interesting called The Organic 
Gardener's Handbook of Natural Insect and Disease Control.  I got it from 
Rodale Press Organic book club. On page 419, it talks about how cuc. bugs 
are repelled by radishes

I thought the raddish actually attracted the beetles and bugs.  By planting
them, the beetles will be drawn away from the pumpkins or cucurbytes.
Then spray the raddish and destroy the invaders.
