Making pumpkins drinkable

Hello from Washington,

Well they wont be going to any weigh off but maybe (if the frost holds off)
I'll be able to save face around the house come carving time (she is sure I'm
crazy). I finally have two set that are the size of large grapefruit and really
taking off!... Ok, Ok stop laughing... it has been a rough year for this beginner,
this plant was started May 31 to replace the first plantings total disasters
I had to pull, the kids were so into growing this year I want to try and harvest
something.

But about fermenting pumpkins;

The early settlers used pumpkins very frequently as a source of fermentables
for making beer and ale.Homebrewers and also a few micro-brewerys are still
making it as a seasonal special. I have never made any but being a former professional
brewer, and a homebrewer, I would be happy to assist anyone with information
if interested in brewing some pumpkin beer.

Brewing beer is nearly as easy as boiling water if you ever wondered.

Rick
