This is a tough call over the net with out seeing it. Stem rots can be a
common and think they are from moisture getting in a crack......in my case
it was from overhead sprinkler..........the stem gets soft brown
spots....if at all possible you scrape off the rotted area(its dead) and
treat with ....i like dry Captan........last year had one that i had to cut
away the rotted area and open up the top of the stem(it is hollow) with a
hole about the size of a large coin on the stem to dry things out....i
could blow air in and fungicide...I was lucky as the bottom half of the
stem was still green and alive...Now if you decide to do this you have to
determine the damage from the rot.......if its all soft and brown even
after you scrape...... and seems to be rotting then you may have to
harvest and cut that stem of to save the fruit....................as the
rot may rot the fruit........Keep the stem dry with what ever you can a fan
for a day or two..........best of luck!!!....brock
