Deb,
The root that starts from a pumpkin seed is very strong. I thought the
same thing when I first tried this method, but I found out that it is very
easy to sprout seeds this way and they can be transferred to pot of soil
with great success. Just keep those hands clean when handling those young
sprouted seeds as not to contaminate or inflict any bacteria. Remember
you are using sterilized soil.
