RE: Curly problem in NZ

John S.--are you "pulling our leg" a bit?? What does "up to 4 feet across"
mean?? How many inches across are your biggest leaves?Perhaps you have a
record there?

Just curious and would love to know.--Al Eaton

Here is a poser.

The four pumpkin plants are growing, on the average about a foot a day. The
leaves on the Kincaid are the biggest pumpkin leaves I have seen up to four
feet across. We have been sitting in a sub tropical air stream for a few
weeks and it has made a huge difference. Anyway - as the vines are growing
so fast I have to put them in a 'holding pattern' and curl them around the
patch until the land where the beans are is cleared after the Xmas holidays.

I can use the cow whackers to direct the vines around the patch so they all
spiral in a parallel fashion.

The question is, is there any evidence to support bigger fruit on a
straight, or a curly vine??? I know this is true of apples where they will
only fruit on branches in a certain angle.

Any thoughts please?
