Re: Just a question

Lynda;

Entering in a contest with a pumpkin is fine, unless there are some weigh offs
that have rules prohibiting "orphan" fruits from entering, which I am unaware
about.
What you should do is find out what the seed is that you were given from the
person who gave it to you. Knowing what the seed is helps a grower determine
{most of the time} what it will become color wise, how good the chances are it
will grow to a heavy weight, and if it has potential to split open.
I suggest to get help from everyone on here to find a seed which is capable of
growing you a pumpkin which best suits your preference. There are a lot of
growers who'd send you great genetic strains for you to try out. I myself have
a few excellent genetic seeds which have different traits
.

Hello to All, wishing each of you's a wonderfull and safe new year, I have
been on the list now for a bit, this is so advanced for me, my brother says "
Get into it" I'm trying, I 'm just lost with all the genetics, maybe it will
click for me someday, LOL, My question is to the experienced growers out
there, I got some Alantic giant seeds from a lady in Nova Scotia, If with any
luck on my side, I happen to grow a big pumpkin with it, and I want to enter
it in our local fair in the fall, will I have to know the genitcs of the seed
to enter it ?? Should I start with a seed that has a name to it?? not just
Alantic giant, Any help would be great, Thank-you Lynda
