Just a question

Hello to All, wishing each of you's a wonderfull and safe new year, I have been on the list now for a bit, this is so advanced for me, my brother says " Get into it" I'm trying, I 'm just lost with all the genetics, maybe it will click for me someday, LOL, My question is to the experienced growers out there, I got some Alantic giant seeds from a lady in Nova Scotia, If with any luck on my side, I happen to grow a big pumpkin with it, and I want to enter it in our local fair in the fall, will I have to know the genitcs of the seed to enter it ?? Should I start with a seed that has a name to it?? not just Alantic giant, Any help would be great, Thank-you Lynda
