Re: New Ideas
Man, and all you AG growers slammed me for selling my seeds??
Tell me what the differance is here, only allowing certain growers access to your seeds? Mr. Eaton, why don't you sell the 1446 seeds for $10 each like you did me on your 1009's?? Or you could maybe get more, considering it's a Record AG.
Now I will respond to a few comments made on here, since I have been bitting my tongue for awhile now...and just incase some of you didn't see my post on BP. I sold my AG seeds because I am unable to grow them in my climate, with my budget. Is it not better to give these seeds a chance to grow instead of sitting idle until they won't even germinate?? I think so. Funny how a member of the AG community was the winner of the auction, at least a few believe in giving the seeds a chance. ALL the seeds are the real deal, I don't lie, even if for profit! I am not sorry for my actions by selling my seeds, I have over $600 in these seeds, I am not going to give them away, not even to a club. Alot of people call this a hobby, if you are growing for competition, weather your trying to beat your neighbor or win your local weigh-off, with a cash prize, your hobby has become a sport. Like all sports the cost to be competitive is limited only by what you can afford to spend. In racing we say , "If at fast you don't succed, add more money!" True for every sport at the adult level.
If you have done everything you can to grow big, where else better to spend your money than on genetics?? If you have spent years getting your soil perfect, you have all the toys you feel required, $400+ sprayers, misters, small greenhouses, tractor, tillers, etc. How do you improve? Better seeds maybe?? Sounds logical to me...
I'll stop, for now. Feel free to respond, I am off work the rest of the year and will have lots of time on my hands, like some of you apparently already do..
See Ya!

To all AG growers--------Jack LaRue and I are considering an idea and at
>this point just want to see how many are interested in participating.
>
>We propose to send 1-1420.5 and 1-1446 seed to a number of growers with the
>following conditions.
>
>You must:
>
>1.Plan to grow the 2 plants in 2005 and cross pollinate them.
>
>2.Have an email address so we can communicate easily.
>
>3.Live in one of the top 20 ranked states/provinces shown on www.ipga.ws
>,that are updated with the 2004 information. We will use the TTA for 2004 for
>your region so if your 2004 info is not listed yet,it is time to see that it
>gets done soon.We will not consider anyone from a state/province where the
>TTA is not current.
>
>4.Have a listing on AGGC,we would use your personal best weight,no matter
>what category it may be in.
>
>We would:
>
>1.Make an initial list of interested growers, you can simply email one of us
>with a "cc" to the other.
>
>2.Divide your PB from AGGC by your state/province TTA to determine an index
>number which we would rank from highest to lowest.
>
>3.Go down the list to determine if you are still interested since several
>weeks will have passed during the process and your situation may have
>changed.
>
>We are considering:
>
>1.Taking email queries from the participants and answering as best we can
>during the growing season, often a second or third opinion is valuable when
>growing AGs.
>
>2.Asking for a reasonable financial contribution. This part is unsettled for
>now but take a look at typical costs from other major seed sources.Comments
>invited by interested parties.
>
>3.Asking for a short, confidential, end of month report during the growing
>season.
>
>4.Asking for maybe 10% of the seeds from a few of the 1420.5 x 1446 crosses.
>
>We are guessing that maybe 50 growers will be on our indexed list, although
>there is no maximum number and it is open to all that
