Bev,
Thanks for your entry. No 7. I couldn't find a rhyme for David Bhaskaran
last year either, when I wrote the following, with apology to Edgar Allan
Poe:
Once upon a bleak November
As I fanned a dying ember
Striving vainly to remember
Who these bubblepacks are for.
Of ideas I had nothing
In a flash the names came flooding,
Like a pumpkin plant a-budding
As mine had, four months before.
For a seed that9s truly dandy
Deb Sundstrom and husband Randy,
Missus Emmons or Mr. Handy
Should have wondrous seeds galore.
Shellie and her boyfriend Rock,
Kenny Mitchell and Mike Brock,
All have giant seeds in stock,
Treasures in a golden store.
This year in my eager quest for
Seeds, I wonder should I pester
Steve Daletas or Brett Hester
As I did the year before.
Other seeds to me do beckon.
Seeds from Larry and Gerry Checkon
With these killer seeds, I reckon
I could do a whole lot more.
Hark, a seed my name is callin9
(Unless my ears are filled with pollen)
Is that a seed from Joel Holland
The postman9s bringing to my door?
Could it be that I9m in luck, or
What? To get a seed from Stucker.
I will need a bigger truck or
Trailer. That9s what U-Haul9s for.
An AG grower of excellent pith
Is pumpkin pirate Kevin Smith
Whose seeds I could grow a winner with
According to my pumpkin lore.
And while my task I do not shirk
To rhyme 3Mombert2 just doesn9t work.
Oh, do I dare to call him Kirk
As I go begging to his door?
I9m finding just a narrow few
Rhymes for the names Hebb and LaRue,
So if I found no rhyme for you,
Forgive, forgive me, I implore.
And send your seeds for 2004
Directly to the Morgan door.
I9ve told the address oft before,
But let me tell it just once more:
David and Kathie Morgan
5767 Lois Ave.
