seeds by the segment

Here is a possible new subject of discussion. Has any research been done
concerning sizes of pumpkins taken from one segment vs. seeds taken from
another segment of that same pumpkin? If for example you have a Smith 900
pumpkin with 5 segments, could seeds from their respective segments
consistently grow vastly different sized pumpkins if all 5 segments were
pollinated by the same male plant? Which brings me to another question, how
many pollen grains does it take to pollinate a 5 segment pumpkin? 5? or as
many seeds as are in each segment?
In other words ,could seeds from a segment of the nonexistent Smith 900
consistently produce pumpkins larger than seeds from another segment of
that same pumpkin? Holding that both segments were pollinated with pollen
from the same pollinator plant?
Just thinking out loud
John
