Dear Beth:
	Ohio State University Extension would be happy to take your money and do a
soil test for you.  Suggest you take a look at the following link at OSU
Extension site:

	This will give you an idea of what they can do and the different types of
test they run.  I'd suggest the Lawn and Garden test "new" price 12 bucks.
They are familiar with giant pumpkin requirements. The web page gives the
address for the ag lab and they'll send you a test kit. OR, call my local
Ext. Office at 330-497-1611 for a test kit.  If you call on a Friday you
might even catch me working the hort. hot line.

	Testing your soil and following the recomendations is the closest thing
one can come to getting a silver bullet in the championship pumpkin
department. Just ask Chris-the-Pumpkin King. I imagine all the champs have
their soil tested.  Probably the only thing all the winners have in common.
