Mentor Marvin,
I used a heavy plastic mulch 4' wide on several of my plants this year but
only temporarily alongside the main vine. As it grew and I needed to bury
secondaries coming off I just slid the sheets of plastic sideways until
they were no longer of use. It help a loy in keeping weeds under control in
the spring.
I also tried some straw on one planting but it was more trouble than it was
worth when it came to burying vines. I have a huge pile of bark and a
loader to move it around. what do you think?
Ciao, John
