Beth,
I'm not sure that the GPC has a rule concerning where a pumpkin is
grown....I don't believe they care. Some individual sites have rules of their
own. Topsfield ( a GPC site) is open to the 6 New England States. Topsfield
doesn't care where you live, but the pumpkin must be grown in New England. A
good example of this is Don Fleming ( World Record holder in 1987). Don lives
in New York, owns a business in Connecticut, and has a farm in Vermont. He
grows his pumpkins in Vermont and is allowed to compete at Topsfield. Most GPC
sites are open competitions so it doesn't matter where they are grown.
