One of the best methods for eradicating slugs is a couple of chickens. This
may not be easy for the suburban pumpkin grower but I have had good results.
Many people raise chickens in City areas and are willing to loan a chicken
or two if you are willing to build a small fence or pen, if so required to
retain them in your pumpkin patch. Within a couple of days your slugs will
have been consumed!
