"You have to be swave" - update of NZ

Phew - what growth there is. A night of heavy rain and then two days of
the temp in the top twenties has seen Fred and Wilma just about double
in size.

I reckon I have it organised now. I have untangled their tentacles and
got them heading in seperate directions, one eithe side of the vege
patch. I recon it will be easier to sort out which flower belongs to
which come pollinating time. I have pruned all the runners from the base
of each plant at about five feet long and buried the ends. This means
that the ends are all in the 'hot zone' where the century old sheep poo
in real thick and blended in with the soil. Wendy - you are right when
yu said last winter that all the work under the sheep shed would pay
off.

I have left two main runners in each plant to be the 'chosen ones'. I
will cut and bury the tips of the laterals of these except those near
the female flower that will be pollinated to allow the upward direction
when Pebbles and Bam-bam take off.

Now that is what I call organised. Jack, I think this is 'swave' and
your hero would be proud.

The growth is lush and fast. I reckon a foot of tentacle a day at the
moment on the main trunk line. Fred's runners are dark green and Wilma's
are bright yellow and much thicker. Does this give any indication the
Wilma's will produce a bigger pumpkin as there is moreroom for goodies
in the vascular tissue????
There are lots of female flowers but still a bit close to the main root
system. Hoping for pollination on January 1st to keep it all in a
chronological fashion. Son of Jabba is going well im Kawerau and I am
hoping for some pollen all being well.

I will start adding the Sulphate of Potash soon to get the fruit
cracking along. I have held off the spray programme hoping nothing will
happen naturally. I will return to it when the babies are 'set' for
insurance.
