I'm no master on soils and rooting, but common sense tells me that if you
have deeper roots you are better off. Deeper roots are caused by
watering deep and infreequently. Deep rooted plants will not starve for
water as easily. The more roots you have, the more absorbsion capacity,
ect.
Just my two bits.
