I think you have found your off season project.

I've discussed the number of males needed to pollinate
will a couple of different growers. I recall that one
of Scott Armstrong's pumpkins (684 lb 1999 maybe ?)
was only pollentated with one male (because that was
all he had at the time), yet it produced a large
number of seeds. I don't remember the number so I
don't want to guess. Scott will have to fill us in
tomorrow.
But I do remember this shooting a hole in our thinking
that more males = better pollination and more seeds.
Of course I don't want people to take this as a
suggestion to only use one male in the future, but it
can be done with just one.

Has anyone gathered information for pumpkins over any
particular threshold
about # of seeds, time of pollination, and # of males
used for pollination?
(If not, I think I know how my offseason will be
spent!)
