Hi Marv,

Two questions: When did you pollinate that pumpkin? and how many males did
you use?

Larry, are you out there?? Can you answer those two questions as well?

I was talking with Tony last night about pollination and seeds, among other
things. Rick Noffke's explanation from way back that developing seeds
release a growth hormone, hence maximal pollination = more seeds = bigger
pumpkin, seems so sound and logical that I hadn't questioned it. But it
contradicts the intuition I've heard from you, Tony and others that the
plant directs its energy to seeds or fruit, not both.

Has anyone gathered information for pumpkins over any particular threshold
about # of seeds, time of pollination, and # of males used for pollination?
(If not, I think I know how my offseason will be spent!)

Thanks,
Beth
