Methoxychlore-vs-sevin

We here in borer country think this topic is one of the most
important we face. If you don't have a license for Asana then it's meth.
or sevin as your choices correct?
I used methoxychlore last year and used it religiously. Still had
borers and after talking to some Wis. growers they think this is the
main cause for my stump rot I'm so famous for!! They reccomended that
you lay a piece of cloth like cheese cloth or something similiar over
the main stump and first 5 to 6 feet of main vine. Then you soak the
cloth with sevin. Anyone hear of this tactic before?? Not sure if the
Methoxychlore wasn't as effective as sevin was in the past or if it was
just a BANNER year for those Borers. Like I said before, the weekend
after labor day I killed one on my zucchini plant!!
