Re: Genetics question

xxxxx So Chris,if seed "X" was known to be "a splitter ,that if you managed
to keep one on the vine would give you a very large pumpkin" (ie 827 or
722Holland) the chances of this splitting problem to carry on would be
greater than with seed "Y" ?...............G

<< I think I understand this question:-)

 Seed "X" would have a greater potential to carry the traits of seed A;
 HOWEVER, self crossed seeds are probably as likely to enhance undesirable
 traits as desirable ones.

 Subject: Genetics question

 Hi...I am looking for seed "A" which,more than likely isn't available
 anymore.Seed "A" =B female x C male. Scientifically speaking-which seed
 would
 have more of seed A in it?
     1----  seed "X"= A female(BxC) x selfed
      2---   seed "Y"=A female (BxC) x D male(CxB)
    anyone?
