Last year at our area weigh in for our club and area residents....There
were a few growers ...who encountered ..Rot spots ...on their pumpkins
...that were still growing..Actually one fellow...brought his in ..to
show us....
He said ....(this was the 2nd week of OCTOBER)...He noticed a spot
...on the tuesday before weigh off...and by Sat . the weigh off the spot
was ..the size of a baseball and threw in one spot...it was on the side
of the pumpkin not on the bottom...It was disqualified......But there
were about 4 growers who had the same thing.....
Does any-one know why ...this would happen ...so late in the
season....what could have caused the spots....at such a late stage...on
pumpkins...that were still growing and almost full size.
Would be good to know...so it can be avoided.
I know at the beginning of the season last year ...i had a few
...beginner pumpkins ...just rot ...on me....?????but... every-one was
at a loss for an explanation...on this paticular pampered pumpkin.
