A friend planted the 879.  Strong vigorous plant covered 2500 ft plus. 
Extremely large stump  with massive main and secondaries.  Leland Spiva
my friend, had two good fruit on the 879, bright orange.  These two
started slow then really took off.  The two pumpkins weighed at Elk
Grove, Ca and then at Auburn< Ca were 601 and 627.  They were however
light about 70 - 90 # light.  They had no splitting problems at all, I
would light to seen then a bit taller than wider.  The largest was in the
lower 90's for height and 137 if my memory serves me right in Cir.  Hope
this helps those of you that are considering the 879.
