Oregon Update
Greetings all you Giant Pumpkin growers out there, how are thing going?
It is time again for the February edition of the super special ever
entertaining anticlimacticaly anticlimactic Oregon Update brought to you in
part by the infamous Oregonain known as The Pumpkinguru.
The patch is proceeding well this P2K. Two site are all that remain to be
spreaded with cow poop, the trmaining 10 have all been spread an tilled. We
have had some decent weather for the past 4 days and with the soil so light
from last years potting soil I was able to work in the poop and have a jump
on spring tilling. Perhaps the idea of an early plant or site may not be out
of the question after all. Seed selection is a key to this year I think, and
with all the good seeds out there, it might just be tops on everyones list.
The soil looks great, and even after all the lemons this winter has had to
offer, I am back on schedule.
Tid Bits.... Potting soil is proving to be a worth while acquisition, I
highly recommend it. Soil tilled with cow poop dries much faster than when
you just have poop laying on top of your soil, so till it in, quick. Choose
your seeds wisely, don't let yourself go on "I think this one will do good.",
make sure it has good genetics backing it up. Germination is a must, so take
much time in perfecting your germination room. Seeds nowdays are too good to
waste.
Take Care,
The Pumpkinguru
