Hello List,

Well since it sounds like the OSC giant pumpkin seed I have will not win me any
prizes, so I will take the advice of this list member and ask for some free
seed.

First, I am located in Ontario, Canada and I don't know if they let un-approved
seed over the border, so I don't know if I should only be asking for Canadian
seed. I am sure there are others better informed than me on that subject. I
don't want to cause anyone any problems.

Secondly, we have won a number of ribbons for bell peppers, pepper squash, and a
watermelon at our local agricultural fair, so your seed will be going to a good
home. This is our first attempt to grow a giant pumpkin, so we may make
mistakes, but we will give it our best effort.

The patch will be placed in a grazing meadow, that has a creek running through
it, and it will be fenced off from the cattle. The spot offers lots of
moisture, without being too wet. As you can see in this photo, the grass is
still green in the meadow by the creek, but burnt off up out of the meadow. We
had draught problems, due to two very dry summers in a row, but the creek keeps
the meadow moist.

Lastly, how many seedlings should be planted, and how many seeds should I start?

This is the competition from last years local agricultural fair;

Thank you for any advice, and or seed you can offer me.

Regards,
Tom
