I will be moving in the near future from the city
to the country. Last year, I grew my 503.5lber along with a 325lber that
had a very late start, in my extra lot next to me that I owned. The garden
was 30'x60' and only accodomated two plants. Then last fall, I expanded it
to 35'x80' and was hoping to get three plants in there. I also added a ton
of leaves and manure along with a soil test preparing for the next growing
season. All that hard work to preparing, only to move. What a
shame! The good news is the new place I bought is in the country and
includes a barn, two silos, and ten acres of land. Yes, ten acres of land
that was used for farming. The bad news is that I have to start all over
with the soil preparation. Is there anything that would give the soil a
great boost so that I can plant this spring? I won't be able to till until
around April 1. I used leaves as a source of micronutrients, but was added
in the fall. Is there anything else that would be comparable to leaves
that will give me a good source of micronutrients that I can add this
spring? Any kind of advice for preparing this new land and any other kind
of advice about numbers of plants or anything else would be
appreciated!!!!!! Thanks.
