Matt,
Weight, grower name and year grown are the proper way to name a seed (ie,
1131 Checkon 1999), regardless of parentage. There are also a few other
terms that can be found when dealing with seeds, such as : EXH (exhibition),
UOW (unofficial weight), EST (estimated weight), etc.
Mike Nepereny has written a very complete and informative article called
"Pumpkin Properties and Nomenclature". This article discusses the proper
naming, use and meaning of all symbols attached to a seed's name. This
article can be found on the AGGC website (link below) in the "Documents"
section.
