Re: When to start?

Hello Lyle, List,

Duke Center, is located in the western most county of North Central
Pa. McKean County along the NY border. We are 10 miles from Bradford,
home of the Zippo lighter, on rte 546. Olean, NY is 12 miles away. We
are about 83 miles east of Erie. 1 1/2 hours south of Buffalo.
We live in a valley, almost 3/4 of a mile wide at our home. It can
make for very interesting weather conditions in here. There are times
during the year when you look out towards the east and the clouds will
"flow" down the hills between the ridges. Our temps can sometimes be as
much as 15-20 degrees colder than Bradford and in the summer it can be a
steam bath.
Without windchill we have seen actual temps of 31 below and as high as
103F. You can stand down by the creek in any season and be hit with a
wind or breeze contrary to the current conditions. Cold in summer and
warm in the winter. It makes for intersting living. We tell folks that
come to visit to bring winter clothes year round. The people that come
here most, do, they forget only once.
We have snow when the sky is clear and one of the best views of the
night sky you can find, when it is not cloudy. If you happen to be over
this way stop in. We don't have much but you're welcomed.

Gary
Duke Center,
Pa.
