Nance,
You have to be very careful using that method. Use sugar water,
especially the commercial orange kind, and your soil will have too many
hummingbirds in its composition. On the other hand, use milk and your
neighbors' cats will dig in and damage the roots without caring in the
least about any gophers or moles they find there.
