Re: Pumpkins for hot climates

Jack, I have been growing in a climate similar to yours for the past 3
years. I don't want to junk up the board with too much back and forth so if
you want to write in depth, email me privatly. As far as a good pumpkin
seed for the heat, I feel that plants with smaller leaves do well. Besides
that, you will have to cool the climate of your plants with shadecloth or
misters. I have often started my plants early in hopes of growing during
cooler weather, but others more succefull that I have started later when the
weather was already hot, and there pumpkins grew to twice the size of mine.
Maybe that was due to them starting later, their greater experience, or the
fact that I have 200 sq ft to work with and one plant, and they have many
plants and unlimited area.

dry climate? - also I would appreciate any advice - Thanks, Jack Dage
