re: selfing

Well one more point, alot of different seeds from the AG variety has been planted and we can already see which ones have good traits and which ones bad.

Does not every one want to plant a 723 or 845 Bobier. WHY?

How about Squash growers. 895 Hester* comes to mind WHY?

What I would do is not even take ten seeds just three like a 723 Bobier or a 712 Kuhn, 846 Calai, 805 Pukos and the list goes on as well try the 1027 Hester '02 1075 Daletas X 1075 Daletas.

Take Three seeds from one pumpkin above plant and self each one, then next year take say 723 selfed # 1 plant and cross it with 723 selfed # 2 plant then the following year cross it with a good seed possibly one that was done like above with completely different ancestors and I'll bet you could hit 1000 lb's easy.

Or if your rushed for results pick two sibbed/selfed seeds this year and plant a couple and cross them

Take the 1023 Hester '02 723 Bobier X Sibbed, plant two, cross them so at the end of the year not only will you have seed with parents like 1023 X 1023 which was parented by 723 sibbed X 723 sibbed you will most likely have a couple hundred S.A.S.B.P. before you even get the seed out of the pumpkin. or should I say 2 pumpkins and yes mine would be there before you even get the pumpkins out of the patch, lol
